Remember in the 90's when we wore our floral printed spaghetti strap dresses atop a baby doll tee, some chunky mary jane-esque shoes, and a choker? Hear some things in that question that sound an awful lot like what's in the stores right now? Then you heard right. Yes, some 90's trends are back, but when something does come back, it doesn't always come back the same way and that's my favorite part. Here is my play on the 90's spaghetti strap dress with two looks in this cami midi dress (that won't break the bank either).
Look #1: Layering Under
This look isn't far off from that classic 90's version I described above, but instead of a floral dress, I have a marled knit midi dress and instead of a baby doll tee I used a mockneck tank. Never say never, but I can not currently foresee myself busting out chunky mary janes any time soon. To each her own; however, I'll throw on a pair of peep toe booties in a hot minute. San booties, this entire look can be purchased for around $130 (including dress, tank, hat, exact necklace, and similar clutch…all without factoring in additional sale codes I know may be available)! See the bottom of the post for the linkages.
Look #2: Layering Over
I reached back to what I think may technically be the 80's for a little knotting technique to shorten this midi dress and give it some sass. Then I threw on neutral booties and my favorite outerwear staple: a great leather jacket. It's really that simple, especially with all neutral pieces like I have worn here.
Added bonus for your viewing pleasure? The jacket draped over my shoulders in what I often feel is a pretty impractical manner, and a solid "booty tooch" (you might have had to watch America's Next Top Model to get that reference).
